Aquabase update to version 9.2.1.420

Aquabase update to version 9.2.1.420

The latest 9.2.1.420 update with a few bug fixes and some new functions is now available for download (Aquabase will check for an update on start-up) and will require a password to complete the update process. This password is included in an email to subscribers to the Aquabase Support and Development Programme. If Aquabase cannot download the update automatically you can also get it from the Download section of this website. You have to be a registered user to access the individual downloads in this section.

Please read the notes during installation for the latest exciting additions and bug fixes! We (the developers and the users) are constantly working on improving and fixing Aquabase functionality. Please let me know if you find any bugs and/or would like to make suggestions for new functions.

WHAT’S NEW IN THIS LATEST VERSION?

  1. The SpatiaLite/Geopackage database update process has been reworked so that the process can no longer be interrupted as this could result in unexpected behaviour and dangling file references. Aquabase will also check on opening a workspace if a previous update process was interrupted and delete the update files. Unfortunately there is no easy and quick update process, so the database update could take a while to complete, depending on the size of the database. So just get a cup of coffee and relax, as database inconsistencies are also ironed out in the process.
  2. The “Recover spatial indexes” function for SpatiaLite/Geopackage databases now also regenerates the geometries before recovering the spatial indexes for the tables “basicinf” and “profilng” and was therefore renamed to “Recover geometries and spatial indexes”. This should also fix possibly lost/invalid geometries due to previous Aquabase version database updates.
  3. Google Plus Codes in the “Alternative Number 2” field can now be generated when checked in the Aquabase preferences (default=off). The code has an “accuracy” of 11 characters and should therefore be in the range of between 1 and 2 meters. The code can be used in e.g. Google Maps/Earth or any other mapping application that understands Plus Codes. The “Alternative Number 2” edit field has also been widened to store and view the complete code and the field heading will also indicate whether a Plus Code or an alternative number is shown. Using the Plus Code is workspace specific.

WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED SINCE THE LAST VERSION?

  1. If an invalid workspace was selected (e.g. with an invalid database) an empty path was added to the recent workspaces list and the workspace.ini file could not be opened with the default editor. This is now resolved and working as expected.
  2. When opening the Testing Details entry form the toggle between residual drawdown and recovery did not change the title of the relevant column correctly. This is fixed.
  3. For some chemistry parameters the keyboard shortcuts for inserting the detection limits did not work. These are working now.
  4. Some of the calculated chemistry parameters, including the Langelier index, were not calculated correctly, depending on the availability of required parameters (missing parameters could result in incorrect results). These calculations have been reworked and should be correct now.
  5. The automatic Aquabase update could result in an incomplete download due to Internet issues like short connection timeouts. The timeouts have therefore been increased and downloads should work as expected.
  6. A few minor bugs were also fixed.
