The latest 9.2.0.419 update with a few bug fixes and some new functions is now available for download (Aquabase will check for an update on start-up) and will require a password to complete the update process. This password is included in an email to subscribers to the Aquabase Support and Development Programme. If Aquabase cannot download the update automatically you can also get it from the Download section of this website. You have to be a registered user to access the individual downloads in this section.
Please read the notes during installation for the latest exciting additions and bug fixes! We (the developers and the users) are constantly working on improving and fixing Aquabase functionality. Please let me know if you find any bugs and/or would like to make suggestions for new functions.
WHAT’S NEW IN THIS LATEST VERSION?
- This installer now allows installation of optional language/country databases and/or, on update, removes optional language/country databases from the installation (if existing). If optional databases are not selected during installation or update only the language databases for South Africa (en_za) and the UK (en_gb) are installed. Optional databases can always be installed at a later stage by running the setup/update again, if skipped during previous installations.
- Aquabase is now compiled with Indy ver. 10 (InternetDirect) components to have more options with Internet access to various online resources, including the updates. This also allows using a proxy server to access the Internet in firewalled networking environments, settings for which can be set in the Aquabase Preferences (scroll to the right in the tabs).
- A couple of language settings databases for English-speaking countries have been added and admin-level 1 (provinces/states etc.) added to all currently available language databases, which are also not duplicated any longer in the “defaults” directory under the Aquabase installation.
- Recently used workspaces in the menu can now be cleared to clean up the list.
WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED SINCE THE LAST VERSION?
- The automatic Aquabase update download feature, which runs in the background after Aquabase start, could crash the application on message feedback to the user, mostly observed on Windows 11. This has been fixed and should work as expected.
- The Aquabase automatic update could result with incomplete downloads if Aquabase was terminated before the download could complete leading to a corrupt installer EXE file. This is now resolved and Aquabase will only ask for updating if a complete download is present. Some updates are rather large and could take some time (> 5 min.) to download through the FTP connection.
- The update of the list with recently used workspaces could under certain circumstances produce an error message requiring the list to be cleared. This is now resolved and should not happen any longer.
- The % recovery on the “Testing Details” entry form did not save in the table of the database due to changes in the used database components. This has been fixed and should work as expected.
- A couple of minor bugs were also addressed.
