Aquabase Update to Version 8.3.3.386

Aquabase Update to Version 8.3.3.386

The latest 8.3.3.386 update with a number bug fixes and a few new features is now available for download (Aquabase will check for an update on start-up) and will require a password to complete the update process. This password is included in an email to subscribers to the Aquabase Support and Development programme. If Aquabase cannot download the update automatically you can also get it from the Download section of this website. You have to be a registered user to access the individual downloads in this section.

Please read the notes during installation for the latest exciting additions and bug fixes! We (the developers and the users) are constantly working on improving and fixing Aquabase functionality. Please let me know if you find any bugs and/or would like to make suggestions for new functions.

SO WHAT’S NEW IN THIS LATEST VERSION?

  1. A Flagging tool has been implemented under the Tools section, which changes the NGDB_FLAG field of various tables to a selected value. This field is not generally used in Aquabase but may be used with other applications and in database views to only use the records which have been flagged. The Basic Information table (basicinf) also has a NGDB_FLAG, which is, however, used by Aquabase for coordinate processes. DO NOT CHANGE THE NGDB_FLAG OF BASICINF AS CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN BY AQUABASE.
  2. Sometimes it is handy to sort water levels according to dates/times and then piezometer (the default) or first all waterlevels per piezometer sorted by date/times. For that a dropdown has been implemented on the Water Level entry form to select between the two sorting methods.
  3. A new Import Tool for WeatherSA daily rainfall data has been implemented under the Online Import section. This tool reads online documents from public SAWS documents and “scrapes” the content for rainfall data. Unfortunately these documents are only available from the middle of 2018 and some of them are even missing. Make sure that the Site Name of the rainfall station to be imported is the same as on the WeatherSA database (at least the first couple of words of the name) and the Site Type is ‘N’, otherwise nothing will be imported. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE CORRECTNESS OF THE DATA THAT IS PROVIDED BY THE SAWS ONLINE REPORTS: SOMETIMES THE MONTHLY CALCULATED RAINFALL VALUES OF THE IMPORT DIFFER FROM THE SAWS REPORTED MONTHLY VALUES!!! PLEASE CONTACT THE SAWS DIRECTLY IF YOU SUSPECT ERRORS OR DISCREPANCIES.

AND WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED SINCE THE LAST VERSION?

  1. The “Quick Chart” functions on various entry forms did not always transfer all necessary information to the time-dependent chart settings, especially on entry forms with several time-dependent parameters in tabs. This is now fixed.
  2. The tabbed time-dependent entry forms did not activate the “Quick Chart” button according to the tab active and also not when records were added or deleted. This should now be fixed.
  3. Some reports gave an error message when selecting the current site only for report generation. This is resolved.
  4. Some “converted” (e.g. “…as N” or “…as P”) parameters on chemistry entry forms and reports did not format the output according to the built-in rules (the smaller the value the more fixed digits after the comma). This has been changed to be consistent with non-converted parameter values (max. 5 digits).
  5. Various smaller bugfixes and optimisations.
