Aquabase update to Version 9.0.5.409

Aquabase update to Version 9.0.5.409

The latest 9.0.5.409 update with a few bug fixes and some new functions is now available for download (Aquabase will check for an update on start-up) and will require a password to complete the update process. This password is included in an email to subscribers to the Aquabase Support and Development Programme. If Aquabase cannot download the update automatically you can also get it from the Download section of this website. You have to be a registered user to access the individual downloads in this section.

Please read the notes during installation for the latest exciting additions and bug fixes! We (the developers and the users) are constantly working on improving and fixing Aquabase functionality. Please let me know if you find any bugs and/or would like to make suggestions for new functions.

WHAT’S NEW IN THIS LATEST VERSION?

  1. Aquabase will now also show and work as expected in “Dark Mode”. There may be some “old” forms not adjusting properly, but these will be fixed over time.
  2. A number of entry fields now also allow lowercase characters. These are mainly names of sites, regions, companies, persons, laboratories etc., while number fields typically have been left uppercase text to make searching easier. Searches in name fields (non-SQLite/Geopackage databases) should therefore be made with “ilike” (case-insensitive comparison).
  3. A new feature has been implemented on entry forms to easily set a filter on the current View by right-clicking on any dropdown box. This brings up a popup menu to set or clear filters. The filter is only temporary and will be cleared when closing the workspace. This function will be further enhanced in upcoming versions and is at this stage still EXPERIMENTAL!

AND WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED?

  1. The “View available Coordinate Systems” form could randomly show an Access Violation error due to a bug in the ReadOnlyQuery component. This has been fixed with a workaround.
  2. The View/Edit Notes function could randomly show an error when trying to open the Notes form. The function has been changed to open the form with click on the icon. The Notes? field is a read-only field and updated automatically depending on the contents of the actual notes field.
  3. The import of online data from the South African DWS website did not work anymore due to changes in the URL and format of the data. This has been changed to The new URL with new parameters and should work as expected.
  4. The sorting of Chemistry Parameters in the user-defined chemistry was in random order and could change when entering results or new parameters. This has been changed to be sorted by name.
  5. On more than one monitor Aquabase did not start on the primary monitor, which is now fixed and should work as expected.
  6. A few smaller bugs were also fixed.
